Young earth creationists believe that the earth and the universe are only tens of thousands of years old and that Genesis gives us a straightforward account of God’s creative activity. The second position, progressive creationism or day-age creationism, holds that the earth and the universe are billions of years old. In , Arthur Holmes published the first book on the age of the earth using radioactivity (see isotope daring diagram below), and while much still remained to be clarified, he claimed that the most ancient rocks must be at least billion years old, so the earth must be older than that.

I often receive emails asking about where in the Bible it states that the Earth is 6, years old. This answer results from a synthesis of a number of passages of Scripture.

Genealogies of Genesis. Our starting point would be the so-called chrono-genealogies of Genesis 5 and Genesis   The Biblical Age of the Earth The idea of the earth being billions of years old is a relatively new idea.

This idea has only become popular within the last years or so. Prior to the early ’s and late ’s most people believed the biblical age of the earth, about 6, years old, as recorded in the Bible. The Bible does not point to a really young earth (6, - 10, years). A close exegesis of the first chapters of Genesis can reveal that the Bible does not claim to give the exact age of the earth Cited by: 6.

Presents an in-depth discussion on the controversial topic of the Bible and the age of the Earth, including the scriptural evidence for a young Earth, refutations of false old-Earth theories (Day-Age, Gap, Modified Gap, etc.), relevance and importance of biblical genealogies, and exegesis of applicable Old and New Testament passages pertinent to this extremely important subject.

In our book, Creation, Evolution and the Age of the Earth, we documented one case where muscle tissue from a mummified musk ox was dated at 24, years, while hair from the same carcass dated only 7, years. (Jackson, a, 13).

Clearly, the evolutionary clocks are drastically in need of repair. The Bible and an Old Earth Inserting vast ages into the Bible’s first chapter sets it at odds with modern secular scientific opinion regarding the order of events.

Old-earthers put land mammals before whales contrary to biblical claims. When she expanded and revised it for Patriarchs and Prophets, inshe did not at that point speak so exactly about years. But elsewhere in the book she spoke twice of the age of the earth as around years. (See pages 51 and ) Her last comment on the years is found in The The Desire of Ages, published in The Bible is ultimately a book of history: it is through the events of real history that He brings salvation to us and glorifies Himself through it.

This is why one’s view of the age of the earth matters to the gospel. Six Essential Doctrines Connected to the History of the Earth. Most biblical creationists say the world is about 6, years old.

Some say ‘the earth is no more t years old, max’, but that is due to rounding off the number to an order of magnitude. If we accept that the Bible is reliable, an age of about 6, years is unavoidable. THREE EARTH AGES.

I n Jesus name we ask you Father for wisdom and understanding your truth about the three Earth Ages, Amen. I'm sure many, many people do not know that there are three Earth and Heaven ages or eons of time.

One Earth and one Heaven however three earth and heaven ages. To understand the Bible it is very important to learn about the ages because it will help you to.

The theory of evolution demands that the earth and universe be old while special creation can have either a young or old earth. Though the Bible does not us give an exact age of the earth, there is no indication in Scripture that the earth is very old.

The genealogies in Scripture do not allow an unlimited amount of time between Adam and Abraham. If a group interprets the Bible in a manner different than that which the Hebrew text says, the truth claim of the Bible is impaired.

Today, the truth of the Bible is under serious attack based upon the claim, by some, that the Earth is only about 6, to 10, years old.

For evangelism, the issue is clear. Most of the book deals with what the Bible has to say about the days of creation. Ross concludes that biblical models of creation should be tested through the whole of scripture and the revelations of nature.

Peril in Paradise: Theology, Science, and the Age of the Earth by Mark S. Whorton, Ph.D. The Bible timeline real age of the earth is 6, solar years in October of AD according to the numbered dates in the Biblical text. The dated events in the timeline of the Bible and the Exact Years Chart found in this research clearly states there are 4, solar years from Creation Week in BC until the Birth of Jesus in 5 BC.

Bible Timeline charts show the age of earth from the seven days of Creation Week in BC, including the Adam and Eve story, to the New Testament public life of Jesus, the life of John the Baptist, the Passover Crucifixion and the Resurrection in 30 AD.

The Institute for Creation Research has always taught, as an integral part of its ministry, the concept of the young earth. We have never put an absolute date on the age of the earth.

The last two verses of the Bible, Revelation21, declare. We believe one can hold to old earth creationism and still adhere to the core doctrines of the Christian faith. Topics such as the age of the earth are why Paul urged believers not to cause strife over things not detailed in the Bible (Romans –10; Titus ).

The age of the earth is. The Bible describes a line of descendants of Adam and Eve, and if we add ages of these people, this can lead to an estimate of the age of the earth of somewhat more than six thousand years.

Such an age is in strong contrast to what many scientists say about the age of the earth: a few billion years.

In fact, the entire period during which earth and heaven were made is also called a “day.” —Genesis Myth: The Bible says that vegetation was created before the sun existed to support photosynthesis. —Genesis 1: 11, Fact: The Bible shows that the sun, one of the stars that make up “the heavens,” was created before vegetation. Now, to the issue of the age of the earth.

There is a great deal of discussion and debate about this within the Christian Church. Very godly Christians who are quite knowledgeable reside on both sides of the issue.

Personally, I do not believe the earth is millions of years old, but I .Ussher's work was his contribution to the long-running theological debate on the age of the Earth. This was a major concern of many Christian scholars over the centuries.

The chronology is sometimes called the Ussher–Lightfoot chronology because John Lightfoot published a similar chronology in –
